About Wildside & The Festival

Wildside has been established now for over 3 years in Nottingham as the home of the UK's sleaze and glam scene. Its monthly events, now at the Junktion7 venue in Nottingham features the infamous Clubnight with resident DJs DJevAL, Johnny Fangz, PVC Kitten and Miss Severina where its the very best of sleaze-glam-hairmetal-glitterpunk all night long. The night was initially started by DJevAL at the newly opened "Spiders" dedicated rock club where it remained for nearly 2 years. The club was tiny, dark and smokey - but the atmosphere was perfect for a sleazy night! This was done more out of necessity than anything else, as Al says - "There really wasn't anything going on for all those un-satisfied glammies out there, me included. All that was really there was a long coach trip down to London to visit Decadance, and they were having their own problems. I figured, someones gotta do something about it... why not me?" So Wildside was setup and the night packed out from the start. It was obviously after a few months that they were rapidly outgrowing the size of the venue. Thats when Junktion7 stepped in...

Junktion7 is one of the most respected, and awarding winning venues in the Midlands with its stylish bar downstairs, to the impressive main room upstairs - its reputation as an exciting, edgy and forward thinking venue stems from their attitude and for booking wide-ranging and daring bands, including many famous punk and glam acts - they seemed the perfect marriage of venue and Wildside. This also allowed Wildside for the first time to put on live bands as well as the clubnight, and over 2 rooms also! Things really began to kick into gear - the website was redesigned and relaunched by resident webmaster Evz within the first year receiving over 1 Million hits, the first Wildside tshirts and merchandise were put on sale, and the after-partys at Al's house moving into the realm of the legendary such that would put Motley Crue to shame! There's no doubt in anyones mind who has been to a Wildside event that right here, right now is the centre of the tornado that is the UK Sleaze scene that is tearing up the UK at present. How can you argue with an official bio such as this!! -

Wildside has been kicking ass for over 3 years and over that time its firmly established its reputation as THE true glam, sleaze, hard rock, glam metal, dirty punk night in the UK bar none. Combining both the best and up-n-coming sleaze bands in the UK (in fact all over the world with bands from the US and Scandanavia coming over shortly) with its legendary club night Wildside is alone in its standing and popularity! With the some of the most hardcore loyal supporters and fan base, and visitors from all over the country from Glasgow to Bournemouth(!) its success is testament to its uniqueness - proving that this music is alive and well in 2000! Bands that have played the venue so far in the last few months inlcude Hurricane Party, LA Guns, Kid Ego, Red Star Rebels, Spit Like This, Sweet Seduction (formerly The Wild Roses), Planet Of Women, Rattlesnake Remedy, The Renegade Playboys and much more! And for the club night - well its the finest sleaze-glam-glitter-punk-rocknroll you'll hear in any club night from the like of Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, Kiss, Skid Row, Faster Pussycat, Hanoi Rocks, Vain, Sex Pistols, Bowie, Danger Danger, T Rex, New York Dolls, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Warrant, WASP, Bon Jovi, ACDC, Aerosmith, Extreme, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, LA Guns, Love Hate, Poison, Quireboys, Dogs D'Amour, Wildhearts, Pretty Boy Floyd, Tuff, Velvet Revolver, The Darkness, Little Angels, Tigertailz, Cinderella, Tyketto and more!!!

Over the last year Wildside has attracted such acts as LA Guns, to Hurricane Party (now Roadstar), bands who have come from as far as Sweden (Vains Of Jenna, Innocent Rosie), Spain (Strutter) and America (The Erotics) - but the focus always has been on the new wave of sleaze-glam-punk bands that are in the UK RIGHT NOW! The bands supporting Vain and Tigertailz at the festival is what we believe to be 'the best of Wildside' up to now which includes the fast rising Kid Ego and Red Star Rebels - who have destroyed the crowd at Wildside many times now, and the scene is looking healthy and better than ever. The night has gone so well that both Junktion7 (as 7Music) and Wildside have decided to combine forces and put on an event that has the pedigree and magnitude of the headliners plus the best of what we have right here in this very country! So we're very thankfull we found the perfect venue MG BALLROOM right under our noses!

So thats what Wildside's main focus has always been on - supporting the new acts that are right here in this country for once!! This doesnt just mean giving them great gigs at Wildside, but it also means going much further than this. Wildside organiser, promoter and DJ Al White (DJevAL) explains further...

"I never envisaged Wildside as being a total nostalgia trip. The days of the 80s hair-metal boom are (sadly) long behind us, but what we have at the moment is a lot of people getting together reinventing and reinvigorating a scene and a style of music and image that never went away and never will. People will always want their rock bands dangerous and outrageous, their songs over-the-top celebrations of life in the gutter, sex, death and vices. Sure we want to celebrate what happened behind us, but we should be looking forward too. The fact that both Vain and Tigertailz have pulled themselves back together and released new albums that are both current, relevant and worthy successors to what they put out previously is testament to why they have the respect they command today and WHY they should be the natural headliners to very first Wildside festival! Personally, I can't wait - and I hope that this event and Wildside as a whole will at least act as a catalyst in bringing people together in enjoying this glorious and often derided form of music! Its going to kick major ass!!"

And so Wildside and 7Music would like to thank you for you interest and hope we see you at the show! We'd like to say that this event will be the start of many more to come. With the 7Music teams background, combined with Al's considerable experience running the production crew of the highly respected and successful Bloodstock Festivals for 6 years now - with their passion, devotion and knowledge of this scene we hope to make this the first of many more Wildside Festivals to come! As Bloodstock's moto is - 'by the fans, for the fans'. Now go buy a ticket!!
